About this Song: The Music, The Promise, and "Love Was Born On Christmas Day"
“Love Was Born On Christmas Day” is an original Christmas song I wrote over many months of revisions and corrections. But here is the story…
In my mom’s final days, I always visited her to make sure she was okay—feeding her, helping her get ready for the day, helping her in and out of bed. I would watch her beloved NY Yankees with her and her Yankee cap on. Sometimes I would test her and ask her who was playing shortstop or who played first base to try and keep her mentally alert! I have to say those were precious moments I had with my mom. Because of my busy life, I felt it was my responsibility to take care of her since she took care of me for 18 years!
Every day she would watch the prayer channel and pray the rosary. Sometimes I would kid her and ask her, “Mom, why do you pray the rosary every day?” She would say to me, “Oh, the Blessed Mother did so many favors for me!”
So the many days and nights I would spend with her, I would sometimes bring my guitar and sing to her as she faded in and out. She loved my singing and playing. You see, Mom sang in church for so many years at St. James Church, and she really had perfect pitch. She would say to me that an instrument was out of tune or that a singer was not in key. Well Mom, you are alive and well in ME because I know exactly when—even from a distance—I can hear when a guitar string is out of tune.
To finish my story, I told her I came up with this beautiful title for a song. When I told her it was called “Love Was Born On Christmas Day,” she smiled and looked at me on her dying bed and said, “You have to promise me that you will finish that song.” With a smile, I promised her that I would. You see, Mom passed in December of 2020 during Covid-19.
At the end of the service, I told everyone that I didn’t want anyone to come to the cemetery so no one would get sick. In the gathering area of the church, I announced to everyone, “Mom and I came into this world together and we’re going to leave it together.” “If she was here, she would say to all of you to call an old friend that you haven’t spoken to in a long time just to say hello.” That was Mom—always thinking of others. Isn’t that what we all should be doing today, caring for each other?
So I never forgot her words to me to finish the song. That did not happen until 2025. So today I am so proud of my song “Love Was Born On Christmas Day” because my mom’s love is a part of it, and hopefully it will be playlisted each Christmas all over the world until eternity—and of course in heaven too. So “Love Was Born On Christmas Day” was finally finished on August 1, 2025.
So I hope you can download, stream, or purchase my song, available on all platforms. Also, if you watch the video on my website, you will see a sign language interpreter. There are over 72 million deaf people all over the world, so I felt they deserved to enjoy my music too. We are all God’s children, right?
So from my home to yours—Merry Christmas! And don’t forget to hug your mom not just at Christmas but all year long, because she brought you into this world to make it a better place for everyone you meet along the way.
